We have reached. Sad point in our society when "tolerated" is to be lauded,Anonymous wrote:The use of the word "tolerated" is very disconcerting.Anonymous wrote: My son goes to Dartmouth and although he is very liberal he says that he has encountered quite a few conservative students and they have had very good talks about current issues. I think there is a wide variety of opinion on the Dartmouth campus. I went to a very liberal LAC but there was a small group of conservative students who were very bright and make good arguments in class And everyone respected themrespected them. If you look at very academic schools like St. John's or Reed college you will find that conservative views are tolerated and people are not isolated socially as long as they have good social skills and can defend their positions in class

I don't believe that happened.
Given the academic bubble most of these professors live in, I don't doubt it.
Oh, good grief. I know liberals who don't believe in climate change. Politics are not monolithic.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Question is, does your DC "believe" in "science"?
Conservatives believe in science. I'm one of them. Shut up.
Well that is certainly comforting to hear. Maybe it's just my own bubble, but when I hear that some conservatives consider climate change to be a Chinese hoax or demand that we "teach the evolution controversy" in science class, it gets me nervous. My kid is STEM all the way and I don't want her getting weird alternative science facts. If science professors have all become liberal, that seems like a failing of conservatism.
