Almost all our bills are paid electronically.

Most of the service providers I used to sometimes write checks for (like the dog walker and babysitters) now take VENMO.

VENMO is great for that sort of thing.

I do this except I order them in the mail and they're free. I have a checkbook somewhere, but I'd have to go find it. I usually keep it in the safe.

I write about 5 a month. Recently finished a book and grabbed another one from the drawer where such things are kept. However, it turned out to be the checkbook directly tied to our HELOC. It took a few weeks to figure out why HELOC balance was increasing and checking account was higher than expected.

Same place you get checks with an address.

I had some printed up about five or ten years ago with just my name, no address. I think I've used less than one pack. I ordered them either mail order or on the internet. The bank would order you some too if you ask them.


If you purchase them from a separate check store (not the one referred by your bank), you can get anything you want printed on them. I belong to a national organization that uses ID numbers for regular participants. I've seen several people who participate who have their ID number printed on their checks. Some people put their phone number since so many people request phone numbers when you use a check. You can put your name and cell phone number on the check.

I tried a couple of online check store and they all require an address printed on the check. My bank does as well. What site did you use?


I have ordered checks without an address for years from Artistic Checks. But in order to get checks without an address, you need to order by mail, not online. (Not sure if you could also order by phone, but it might be worth asking.) They have been bought by another company (they all seem to be in Colorado), and now look suspiciously like Checks Unlimited and Current. I have never had any problems. I like to change designs, so I usually order one box at a time.

I use checks for piano lessons, birthday checks for my nieces, paying the lawn guy and maintenance people that come to the house, field trips or similar, etc.
