How sad! This is probably more a sign of the times. It was quite normal to institutionalize anyone who wouldn't be able to live independently as an adult. Remember, one of the Kennedy siblings, Rosemary, was also institutionalized for life after she underwent a botched lobotomy.

Prince Phillip was very handsome & dapper in his prime when he married the Queen.
She was never a stand-out beauty, but presented herself very elegantly and with a lot of class.

Prince Charles was NEVER handsome in my opinion, though his sons are. Mostly William in his prime.

And whoever does not think little Prince George is not the cutest baby to ever grace this planet is just blind!!

This thread is fascinating. I'm learning so much!

Another note: Charles and Diana were fourth cousins and Fergie is also a cousin, though more distantly removed.

I remember reading at the time of William and Catherine's wedding that they were 16th cousins, or something like that. But it's a good thing they are not as closely related, because the Royals do have too much inbreeding. Prince George and Princess Charlotte seem to resemble Kate's family quite a bit.
