I think elevating a boor like Trump to the highest office in the land has lowered the bar on discourse. But I've never encountered anyone who talks like this in real life.
Lowbrow commentary seems to be reserved for forums like this one and social media and crops up all across the political spectrum.
It's a free country. Using slurs tells me a lot more about the person who uses them than about any redneck.
Please don't pin the level of public discourse on Trump. Take some personal responsibility, for crying out loud. Once.

While I don't think the term "flyover" is derogatory, the rules of use as it relates to these words and all others should apply equally to both parties. This is precisely it. In a nutshell.
Not really. It's not lack of "tolerance" to put up with people who support a candidate who has said and done some of the things that Trump has said and done. I don't have to tolerate someone who supports a man who brags about grabbing women's pussies, who spread xenophobic hysteria, called certain races rapists and murderers, who deals in fear . . . to names just a few of his traits. So, I agree that both parties should refrain from name-calling (conservatives do it too, and I would argue do it more). However, I don't have to accept those vile traits of our incoming President or be nice about the people who support those traits in order to remain "tolerant" or "inclusive." This isn't fiscal policy differences we're talking about. It's an ugly, ugly underbelly of a certain branch of the Republican party and it is the foundation for this presidency.

The only "hysteria" was/is on the left. As is *always* the case. I fail to see how committing to shoring up our borders and strictly vetting immigrants trying to enter the U.S. from Middle Eastern hotspots could be construed as "xenophobia." I also don't quite get the hysteria over Trump's (admittedly gross) remarks re: women, vs. the utter lack of condemnation of Bill Clinton's womanizing history - as Governor and President, no less.
However, you go ahead and selectively express your outrage.

There's no one out there talking like this. It's just that Trump supporters see him as someone who speaks truth plainly and the plain truth about working class whites in America isn't something they'd like anyone to speak about.

I'm not the PP, but I have relatives who refer to themselves as rednecks - they're proud of it and it is not a slur but a badge of honor, of sorts. If you live in the south and have any working class or middle class friends or family, you know this.

Breitbart used the term flyover country way back in 2009.
FYSA: conservative elites are likely the ones who coined the terms redneck, flyover country, and white trash...to distinguish themselves from the less-than whites (since the conservative elites are white and live in the same red states). Now they use the terms to manipulate the lower-class by saying the liberal elites believe they are dim-witted trash. It's quite befuddling given that liberals champion the safety net and work in the social service/anti-poverty advocacy arena. I suppose they might learn what's what under a Trump administration with republican control of the congress. If they decimate the safety net, destroy Medicare and SS, make health care worse, decrease benefits, and harm the economy, then maybe they will understand which party cares about others and which party only cares about the wealthy.
I am reading a book called White Trash by Nancy Eisenberg right now. It's a best seller. It's about the history of poor white people and basically talks about those terms coming from wealthy white people to distinguish themselves.
I'm sure Nancy has a clue
