Apparently what is good enough for Hyde kids wasn't good enough for theirs. And Murch got 8.9 million for their space up at UDC. Likewise Lafayette. Who exactly is entitled? As for Marie Reed, the route you get bused on doesn't take 40 minutes. That is how much time DCPS found the route from Hyde to Meyer could take.
I there are so few kids who live in Burleith that this is a non issue really and the ones who are there would much rather go to stoddert where we can walk anyway!

Makes sense.
OR you could have shown us a little mercy, and we might have considered sending our kids to Hardy.
Um, so feeder school wants to decimate Hardy ruining the pathway for all of us ..... seriously. Esp the the feeder with 60% OOB?
Still can't tell from this tread if this is still a proposal on the table or just still hashing the aftermath? If still on the table, the parents still trying to save Fillmore will be up doubly up at arms.

Why don't they designate an unused building as the permanent swing space (rather than leasing it to the Lab School), renovate it and use it as the swing space for every school undergoing renovation in succession? For example, over the last few years, the school communities of Janney, Hearst, Lafayette, Murch, H-A, etc. could have all used a designated swing space in Ward 3. Other unused buildings in other wards could be used as swing space in succession as schools in nearby neighborhoods are renovated. No need to build a trailer swing space every time. No debates about where the students would go because it would be established as an expectation.
OK, what is wrong with this idea?
That is what Meyer is supposed to become.

You just can't bus 3-4 year olds across the city twice a day. The school community is up in arms, but unless Duke Ellington is delayed even more (they are currently occupying Meyer), it looks like DCPS has effectively destroyed an up and coming neighborhood elementary school community.
The Marie Reed students are being bussed daily without incident. Ask them how it's going before assuming it is going to 'destroy' anything.
