I associate that more with the all-American cheerleader turn "tasteful" mom look: e.g. Kristen Bell (who seems awesome personally) or Lauren Conrad or Blake Lively, etc. Gwyneth is actually a little odd looking, which I find more interesting, even as I agree she's not really a conventional beauty. Very slim, very angular face (even as a young woman), stronger jawline, larger features, thin lips, etc. I find it weird that of all adjectives "basic" is the one used.

It's feels very similar to the obsession with ripping down Kate Middleton and insisting she has an eating disorder.

Maybe it IS the Kate M. poster!!
I might have missed it but I don't think anyone called her ugly.

Anonymous wrote:NP. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. GP isn't unattractive but is she THE MOST BEAUTIFUL EVER? FOr me? No. She's not beautiful to me, though she is admittedly attractive. Same with Kate Middleton, who really looks old to me for her age, but I have melanin so I'm used to looking at my mom and aunts and grandmothers who are really well-kept and other relatives who have babyfaces in their 30s, so that may skew my opinion about how old Kate looks.
But the sum up is, my beautiful (and that of many other people in this thread) is not yours. Why do you care?

She's 5-9 and probably weights, what, 120 lbs? If that.
Whatever you want to say about her, she's most certainly not average.
I don't think Harper's Bazaar features many truly average women who are 5-4 and 150 lbs sitting on conveyor belt in their underwear. Now that would be a very different looking photo shoot.
Did you know that tall and skinny people can be average too? She's average. Extremely, extremely ordinary. I can walk down Wisconsin Avenue right now and pick out 5 women in 10 minutes who would smoke her without the photoshop and money.
No, tall and skinny people are not average. Factually speaking. They might still be ugly or you might think they are ugly, but they are not a typical looking human when looking at a bell curve of how other humans look.
Or make an argument that tall and skinny people are ugly. I'd even go for that. But calling her average is just dumb.

NP, and I think GP is pretty though I'm not really a fan. I think what that poster meant is, if you saw GP walking around the grocery store in real life, you wouldn't bat an eye. And I guarantee they can make an a 5-4 150 pound woman look hot as hell if they used the same lightening and enhancement treatments they did in this shoot.
A tall, slim, pretty blond woman? I might notice her in a sea of dumpy DC types. Just keeping it real.
You might not like her, but she doesn't look like most people and she's better looking than most people by stereotypical Western standards. I just think it's silly to pretend otherwise. Again, call her a pretentious douche all you want. I agree.
Maybe compared to you she is Ms. Universe (just keepin it real). Below average looking people think average looking people are "gorg". Just keeping it real. But she is SO basic looking, which is fine. She may be on the cover of HB for being an A list actress, but Gwyneth is not known for her beauty.
Yikes, are you a dumpy DC type?
