It sounds like a dream life for most women so they can't stand it when lorelei complains about stuff.

There, I feel much better!
Sally struthers, luke's daughter, sister, and dirk are pretty freaking annoying

I did love the clothes on that show. Even years later, I would happily wear anything Lorelei wore on that show. Doesn't help that fashion for the last couple years has been atrocious, but that's another thread.
I think a lot of this is wrong. Lorelai and Rory's wardrobe consisted mostly of jeans and cords and t shirts and occasional work outfits right up until Season 5. And throughout all the seasons, there is A LOT of repetition of their clothes, though less so for Lorelai towards the end.
One of the challenges for costume designers early on was trying to get Lorelai to look thrift shop chic. They failed and dialed it back by season 2 with more cutesy graphic tees and better fitting jeans, but no real designer clothes.
Rory's clothes get increasingly fancy, and by season 6, Lorelai is mostly in DVF wrap dresses, but by then, she is supposed to be pretty flush.
I don't think Lorelai was ever "flush" on GG, though DVF is probably readily available in Conn. thrift stores. But the jeans she wears are clearly designer...and it was before everyone was wearing designer jeans (i.e. at the leading edge of the trend).
I am pretty aware of the types of casual designer labels Lorelai wears, and I always found her wardrobe to be extremely unrealistically expensive. Casual clothes can still be designer, and she often wore clothes that seemed more expensive than she should be able to afford. She also talks a lot about shopping, including about shopping at Sephora. If she were really on a tight, single mom budget, she would wear drugstore make up.

In what world is she hot?
She was not un-hot as Lorelai.. Slim, tall, gorgeous eye, great smile.

And just reveals odd characters' pride (over what?). L thinks she is so great bc she grew up rich, eschewed it because she was "right," disses on her rich upbringing every chance she can get, yet takes from it. And acts like a teen brat ALLLL the way through.
Interesting, that's what I liked about the show: I could totally relate to Lorelai's complicated and irrational attitude/feelings toward her parents. I thought the show did a great job of making it clear that Emily was not a horrible person - it wasn't black and white where Lorelai = laid back and not snobby! and Emily = uptight, rich snob! Lorelai WAS an irrational brat sometime - as a lot of grown women are around their moms.
I thought watching Lorelai struggle through her feelings about her upbringing and her parents was really relateable and I can't think of another show that nails the complexities between the parent/child and mother/daughter relationship so clearly.
