Anything they can do to their home?

The set backs for accessory dwellings are 1 foot.
There has to be a higher fire rating, but it is one foot.

Nichols has no right to be upset about neighbors planting trees and shrubs and the Linehans shouldn't have expected their view outside their kitchen window to be anything special when it's only 2 feet from the property line. If Nichols wanted to maintain open visual space, he should have built those three houses as townhouses and had the grounds owned by the association. These people are all ridiculous.
Yes! I'll add though that Nichols does seems to be a true jerk-type. Building three homes on such a small space? Ugh! I'm grateful for my flag-waving, friendly neighbors of mixed ages and backgrounds/lifestyles in a 5- year old suburban neighborhood with tons of trees and rolling hills.
