How about south of the beltway at Branch Ave? I definitely think Ft. Washington is southern MD. But not Greenbelt/College Park.

Except for Western Maryland and the Eastern Shore?
Western md is democrats. Old farmers.

So would you draw an imaginary line from Chesapeake Beach through Ft Washington, and all points south of that in Maryland (other than the Eastern Shore) are "Southern Maryland"?
Southern MD consists of the counties of St. Marys, Calvert and Charles. I do concede that the very bottom of PG is pretty much southern-maryland-ish, and certainly used to be culturally, but PG is not southern maryland.
western md consists of the three counties out west, Garrett, Allegheny and ______ (drawing a blank). The Eastern Shore is obvious enough. The rest of MD is either Baltimore metro or DC metro or the blurred area in between (looking at you, Nats fans in Laurel). Not sure where Cecil fits in though ....

Anonymous wrote:so are you still live in southern Maryland a long long time ago and I remember there was a word for them. It was a derogatory word and for the life of me I can't seem to remember what it is. Anyone remember this?

Are you aware that Marlboro is one of the world's most popular tobacco brands? Did you ever wonder from where that name originated? I'll give you a hint... Think long and hard about this, OK sweetie?
Upper marlboro is the doorway to southern maryland. PG county is not southern maryland. OK, sweetie?
my grandfather from calvert, took his calvert (southern md) grown tobacco to upper malboro.
i don't give a damn if the city is called newport or camel, southern marylanders know that upper malboro is not southern md.
