Prior to me having a child the board president requested that I write a letter describing noise in the condo above me (children running). Coincidentally the unit is across from his. I of course, wouldn't write anything about it because yes I could hear them but it didn't bother me. He approached me asking if I could hear them and I said yes which lead him on a tirade. He hates children. Wouldn't this be harassment or discrimination?

Long and more narrow so the blackout blinds were custom. You can imagine how upset I was to have to remove them. I had my child in the laundry room with me and the manager told me he is not permitted to touch the machines including putting my wet clothes in the dryer (he loves doing laundry). My bike lock is still on at the pool, thank goodness.
The management company is Abaris. Beware! They hire idiots.
Do not report to their demands. Make them sue you. You will win and take them for all they are worth. This is absurd.

The management company as well as the board would be thrilled if my kid fell off the roof. They are jerks. They say that my child's fingerprints on the lobby doors lower the value of the property as a whole. They hate children. They even made me remove my blackout blinds in the baby room because it's "against" regulation although the not in writing to have anything but standard blind up.'they are horrible. I'm harassed daily by the property manager who literally looks for my child to touch something or make a loud noise and break the noise violation code. It's horrible and I feel helpless.
OMG, we live in a building like that, but it's more the residence who hate children.Rumor has it that kids under 4 were not allowed at the pool about 8 years ago and prior. The pool rules overrules a federal law. Kids get yelled at by elderly residents when they speak in the corridor and so on. It's so sad.
Just like on airplanes, in close confines small children are to been seen not heard. I do not want to be woken up from a nap or disturbed from my work by children screaming or running up/down halls. I pay way too much money for that.
If you pay so much money to live in a condo and don't want noise but a house in the burbs. This is city living. It's not quiet.

The manager went so far as to tell me flat out the building isn't child friendly and I should look into a building with a playground. Um we are a block from the zoo and near tons of parks. Not sure how much more kid friendly you can get.

If she is a renter, she should complain to the owner who can pass it on. She is not part of the building ownership and doesn't have the same rights as an owner.

Honestly, he's right. It's not like you didn't know what you were getting when you either rented a condo or bought in the building. The place is more than 70 years old and has hundreds of tenants! You cannot expect the condo board, the building management, or your fellow tenants to bow to your whims or put a look on a pool therefore inconveniencing everyone else hoping to enjoy the rooftop amenities.
Keep your child off the roof, do not let them place in the laundry room and stop inconveniencing others, especially in a building that has seen better days and probably has owners that do not want to cough up 5-6 figures for a damned fence on the roof. If no one has fallen off in half a century you're not going to convince them that its an immediate priority now.![]()
