Subject: What does your spouse do; do you like his/her profession?
My DH is a doctor. He's rarely home while the kids are awake during the week, and when he is he's "too tired" to be engaged or to help out. He basically contributes money to the household, and that is it. He's also too tired after his long day for conversation or sex.

Mine is a banker and at age 60, he continues to get about 5 calls a week from headhunters. He can go anywhere. Mostly a 9-5 job and we live well. My career kind of nose-dived when I left the lobbying world. But together, we make a lot.

Love his intellect and his passion and while the job is stressful and demanding, he's home for dinner between 5:30-6 every night and helps shuttle the kids around in the afternoon too.
Salary is great and he plans to most amazing vacations as he has contacts in all corners of the world and has access to things and places. The kids love the stories he has and dinner table discussions are fascinating as we talk about what's happening in the country' and around the world and his perspective and knowledge is illuminating to all of us.

My DH is also an engineer. He works for a public works department. I am just glad to have him around period, and don't care what he does for a living, but I like that he likes his job.

DH is an engineer by degree and works in a technical supervisory role at a steel company. He’s a total nerd, and I adore how smart and quirky he is. The only thing I don’t like is that the culture is very “workaholic” and he gets phone calls 24 hours a day when there are production issues.

Cop's wife here. I work in IT ... made 2/3 of the HHI for most of our marriage, he is now finally catching up... almost 50/50 with 2 part time jobs to add to the HHI.
HHi $250, $800K in 401K, 2 pensions (his 60 %, mine 30%)

Interesting that you assume all the people posting about husbands' jobs are SAHMs.
I know, right?! I posted my DHS job and made no mention of mine.
Someone needs to step away from the 1950s mindset.
