I'd much rather swim in this water than the chlorinated crap at any pool. To each his own

What about the majority who don't?
Stuart graduating a bunch of first-generation students who attend George Mason or VCU is probably more impressive than a school like Marshall graduating a bunch of privileged kids who go to George Mason and JMU.
Pp here, I would buy that. I have always chalked lake barcroft up to areas like fort hunt off of GWP in Alexandria. Decent SFH neighborhoods that suffer from va's tendencies to still clump public housing together in historically minority corridors even if it sinks a few neighborhoods as long as it doesn't touch where the donor class lives.
While it might be easy to spot why the areas are in decline it doesn't make them any less in decline or desirable in the new market's rush towards precieved quality.

Anonymous wrote:Let's not get crazy here. Stuart is fine and I am sure your friends DD is a self starter and took some ap courses at other FCPS.
But what is the % of kids not going to college let alone ivy school?

Kind of like Pimmit Hills without the water.
This is the funniest post I've ever read on dcum.![]()

Anonymous wrote:It is great, notice nobody on here has said they live there. I am willing to bet they were out bid on the house they wanted so now they trash it. Same thing happens in Bethesda,
The lake is fine, you can use boats on it, electric pontoon boats, kayaks, canoes paddle boards, etc. 5 white sand beaches. Yep, some of the schools are not great but my kids go to TJ after going to the local schools there.
SO imagine waking up this morning, walking down to your dock, meeting friends for a 2 hour paddle board ride driving 15 minutes do downtown instead of getting up and sitting in traffic on 66 for hours and hating life.
Anonymous wrote:I know nothing of the water quality, but one of the worst people I've ever known (pedophile enabler) lived next to the lake. I know, it could happen anywhere, but for some of us mention of the lake is triggering.

Apparently they went down to the lake and canoed and swam in it. When I picked him up, I was nauseated by the sight of that water! Went online to find that they've had FOUR raw sewage spills in that lake, latest being 2015, and residents have had issues with e-coli. County knew about the spills, didn't notify residents right away. Apparently a resident who's dd got sick, took it upon herself to test the water, only to THEN have the county come clean..
SO not ok
Wondering if anyone lives there and can update me as to issues with water? Having my kid wash in Hibicleans (probably overkill, but the pharmacist was horrified and told me that was what to do).
Millennial born and raised in Lake Barcroft - and *gasp* - a product of FCPS and JEB Stuart. Just bought a house after 8 years in Arlington and moved back to start a family. I swim in the lake all summer long like many residents. Fear not helicopter mom. It was a phenomenal place to grow up and I hope my kids enjoy it as much as I did.
The water quality is monitored and managed by a WID that is funded by a special tax district: http://www.lakebarcroftwid.com/about_v2.html
Details about water quality are here: http://www.lakebarcroftwid.com/documents/WID_LBA_WaterQualityAdvisory_140728.pdf
Thank you for posting about the water quality. My kids love that lake.
OP is worse than a helicopter mom. She's obviously mentally ill and histrionic, and we should just ignore her and her craziness. She desperately wants this attention, so we're all just feeding the beast.
+1. My friends live in LB and their DD just graduated from Stuart and is heading to Yale this fall. Those kids turn out great.

Then you'd be wrong. She expects to get an IB diploma from Stuart. No AP courses.
The point was she thrived at a diverse school. Why are you so threatened by it?
Getting in is one thing but the best Stuart kids won't be as prepared as a mediocre McLean or Langley graduate.
That's obviously false, and only underscores your own stupidity.
Is you are mediocre and surrounded by low achievers you are great
And, apparently, if you are mediocre and surrounded by high achievers, you're pathetic.
+1
Different poster here. Love this. How true!
Nope
You're going to have to work harder than that to convince me I'd rather live in, what, Pimmit Hills than a more attractive neighborhood like Lake Barcroft/Sleepy Hollow.
