It's fantasy land. The whole show is about ... fantasy land. Loralai tried to escape one fantasy land and landed in another - Rory embraces her grands and lives in both fantasy worlds! It's all kinda poking fun at fantasy land, i think. I always wished it would get a little more, ironic or self-conscious, actually. Occasionally it did break the 4th wall - like with kirk, and with the busker. I wanted more of that and less playing it straight. Like I wanted them to acknowledge Rory's outrageous wardrobe. For living in a small town? Her clothes are amazing and over-the-top.


Maybe I just haven't gotten there yet (still in season 2), but so far, Rory's wardrobe is hideous. Does she become a fashionista at some point? So, so dowdy right now.

Don't you remember being that age and just being so sure of yourself and your plans? It's not until you get closer to it that the nerves and insecurity kick in. And Rory is nervous that's why she freaked out about not having enough extra curricular activities.

Obsessed with that show.

Loved Gilmore Girls too but not like my first love Felicity.

I do need to rewatch Felicity. But it will be weird after watching The Americans and Scandal (and Alias).

I loved Parenthood.

I'm really glad I choose to rewatch Gilmore Girls. I'm watching it from such a different perspective. Before I was single, trying to find the right guy. Now I'm happily married with a new baby. I'm seeing the show with a whole new set of eyes.

One of the reasons I haven't gone back and watched Gilmore Girls is that I really disliked Lauren Graham on Parenthood.

I LOVE Gilmore Girls and couldn't tolerate Parenthood. No idea why, I like all the actors. I think it reminded me too much of the melodramatic Thitrysomething (and I was young when that came out, just remember thinking wow do adults whine this much).

I have been meaning to watch FNL as I've heard it's awesome.

After you watch FNL - it's so good - and you're ready to revisit the characters from breaking bad you should watch Better Call Saul. I just watched the first season and I really liked it. It's not nearly as dark as Breaking Bad. There is one bad scene in the desert but otherwise it was not disturbing/upsetting like breaking bad became at the end.
Congrats on the new baby!

OP I'm the PP who thinks you should reserve FNL for watching with your spouse. I'm surprised nobody else has said the same. As for Peter Krause, did you ever watch Six Feet Under? That's another great series.


My DH liked FNL a lot. But he didn't looooooooove it like fan-girl me, lol.

FWIW, I rewatched FNL with my 16-year-old. It was a great show to watch with a teen. Lots to talk about.
