Thank you for the update, OP. My baby is 4 months and it's becoming detrimental for my family for me to be off of my medication.

I appreciate all of this info!

Curious - did anyone ever follow-up to this thread? The advice now is overwhelming that the benefits of breastfeeding outweigh formula (even when ADD medication is needed). This thread looks almost 10yrs old, what did you decide and how did it effect your LOs in the long run?

Thanks for sharing your experience, OP! I'm also still holding off, but may need to start again soon. DD is almost six months, so starting to feel more ok with having to supplement during the day if necessary.

It's true. Deal with it. Everyone's so sanctimonious about drugs, but you were hooked up to ten kinds of IVs with drugs far more powerful than adderall, weren't you? I guess it doesn't count if everyone is doing it.


I don't even know why I'm feeding the troll ... but, one-time exposure to drugs during labor is much different from ongoing exposure from breast milk over weeks or months.

Not the same, but I held off on resuming Wellbutrin until I was finished breastfeeding. I actually stopped breastfeeding a couple months earlier than I'd hoped and planned because I was doing very poorly and my need for the medication outweighed the benefits of a couple more months of breastfeeding, in my doctor's opinion and I couldn't disagree with her.
