I would like to just name her Margaux, but that would be to weird.
Going with the Elyse spelling because Elise happens to be niece's middle name which I also loved.
I didn't have the kids first so I didn't get to claim them. Trying to find something to be happy with.
Husband thinks it doesn't matter, but he's not too fond of my sister.
I like Elaine too.

I suppose we could go with Elaine. I don't love it , but my husband suggested it and it's okay. We have an alternate middle name of Grace.
Elaine Grace is fine. Just like everything has always been for me. Just fine.
OP, between this and your post at 21:02 it sounds like you have a lot of other issues weighing at you right now. Do you think it's just pregnancy hormones, or is this an ongoing family issue? I don't really have any advice, and also am not trying to be snarky, but would encourage you to focus on the fact that you and your DH are starting your own nuclear family. Don't bring into it a name that will cause more drama unnecessarily. Focus on the joy that's about to come into your life. Keep in touch with your doctor post-partum and take care of your own emotional health as you dive into the world of parenting a newborn. I say this all kindly, since these two posts have me a bit worried about you.
well, maybe I am offering advice. (rolling eyes at self)
I agree with this and the PP has said it much more nicely than I could have.

I don't know, I feel much the same about the name Molly...despite having a lovely cousin with that name.
Anonymous wrote:As someone who had a cousin given almost the exact same name as me, I'd suggest staying away from this. My name is Emily and she was named, Emma. We have the same middle name and it just seems odd. I'm 15 years older than her so the age difference is similar, but its still weird. Luckily we don't live close so it's not that big of an issue, but at the time I definitely felt like they couldn't come up with a better name and stole mine.....
Anonymous wrote:FWIW, I too hate the creative spelling trend, but the only Elyse I ever knew was a college friend who went with a -y not an -i.
