I didn't see anyone mention that AMC has the $6 plus tax price all day on Tuesdays if you are a STUBS member. We do that and really enjoy going on Tuesdays. As for the snacks, do as others have said and discreetly bring in your own water and bag of popcorn and candy.

OP, I haven't seen all the posts here, but maybe someone mentioned -- if you are anywhere in Fairfax/Tysons/Vienna areas, there is University Mall Theatres with super-cheap seats. Used to be $4.00 and I think it's gone up a bit but still nowhere near "regular" theatres. If you call they'll tell you if a particular movie is going to come there once it's done at the first-run theatres. If your kids can wait a few weeks to see a movie that's just come out, and it's going to be at University Mall Theatres, wait and go see it there.

Exactly.....I think people over estimate how much they eat as adults.

That's fine as long as the tuna isn't fried.

Well, it will be spiced.

big purse. i've even made popcorn at home, packaged in small ziplocks for each kid. Same for candy or other treats. Get a bag of candy at the store for $5, enough for everyone.

They have never bothered me for bringing in snacks and water bottles. Perhaps if I walked in with a 3-course meal, but I don't think they care about little bags of food.

Late morning is even cheaper than matinee ($6 ticket)..and no we don't buy snacks (except if it is a time we need to be eating -rare). We also hardly ever go..we are happy to watch most movies at home.

I wouldn't bring my own snacks into the movie theater. That just seems wrong.

I would feed my kids a snack beforehand, maybe get them some small drinks at the theater and share a tub of popcorn with them. My older siblings used to take me and my younger sibling to the movies and that's how we handled it. In fact, now that I'm remembering...we used to by one big drink, one tub of popcorn and asked for extra cups so that we could divide it up between us.
