We keep shoe covers for the house in general. If we run out, then I just clean up after the workmen like I would do anyways. Easy Peasy

OP, consider this. Have someone in your shower in socked feet or barefoot is riskier TO YOU than having them in there with shoes on. Not only can they drop something, but is not uncommon for guys to have athletes foot or some other type of foot fungus. So you are actually trading one risk for another more probable one. IMO

You do know that showers have water attached to them, right? Meaning a shower is about the easiest thing to clean. Do you lick your shower floor routinely or something?

You should know by now that contractors and repair people keep their shoes on. Roll up the expensive Persian like EVERYBODY ELSE DOES when they come. Do you think you're the only one who has nice things and doesn't want to get them dirty? Think again. We all clean up after workmen, and put away precious things. If you can't put them away, you have to be ready with shoe covers, and plenty of them.

Go to a therapist for your rigidity and anger issues. Learn to put yourself in other people's shoes!

Shoe covers. Get some from the Home Depot, present them to workmen at your door. Have a few extra pairs for when they burn through those ones. Done.
