Subject: Tiffany and Co.
Without a doubt a Tiffany ring will hold its value And even though you are handing it down, it will matter even more down the road. Be very careful with their 'evaluations'.
I have a 1940s Tiffany watch. I am a vintage dealer and I know for a fact it is Tiffany's as they used Movado movements back then, it's the original case, etc. Some idiot tried to repaint the face on their own when the lettering was wearing off, which you can see under a 10X loupe.
I had a 20 something year old Tiffany evaluator look right at the face and hand it back saying 'fake' without even cracking open the case. She had no idea, also, that Tiffany did not make their own movements back then.

no they are absolutely not worth it. But if you have the money - go for it.. Also, I hear they're mostly made in the US, so it might be worth paying the premium for that.

I looked at Tiffany's with my fiancé too because I thought that I might want a ring from there. It has cache, plenty of people are wooed by the charm. I ultimately wanted something that was as good quality as Tiffany but was larger for less. We used Blue Nile and got an amazing ring that was about 50% larger than what I saw at Tiffany for the same price point. I would suggest checking it out - we had a terrific experience. Bought my band there too.
