My parents are in their mid sixties so not a big deal that they still drive. FIL is about to turn 90, and he still drives. He avoids driving at night though.

My dad is 70 and blind in one eye, has been for about 10-ish years, so he doesn't drive alone at night or in the rain.
My mom started having panic attacks and stopped driving at night. She was in her early 60s.
My grandmothers never had licenses. My grandfathers passed away when they were somewhat young but they drove up until the day they died.

80 year old mom still driving around suburban Maryland.
She isnt comfortable driving longer distances solo. Just took some aarp driving field test and passed with flying colors.

Like a PP, my dad still does all of the maintenance on his car, etc, at 73. He does a lot of manual labor too - yard work, clearing brush, paving driveways... He has some trouble with his joints occasionally, but his mind and the instincts are all there.
My mom is 72 and still drives and still works 6 days a week. Her attention span isn't the best - but that has always been the case and hasn't come on with age. They probably shouldn't have given her a license in the first place, but here we are!

Both my parent drove into their 80's. Mom stopped about 82 and Dad at 84. Mom due to increasing dementia and Dad due to cancer. My grandmother drove to about 94 or 95.

Both parents are 85. My dad still drives, does the grocery shopping, runs errands, drives them out to dinner, etc. he wouldn't drive long distances but is fine around town (small town in NJ). My mom technically can still drive but doesn't.

You're right. Take the keys. Just like they didn't take the keys from the 35 year old in the 911 convertible who stopped at a crosswalk for me to cross, looked at me, grabbed his phone and then just simply hit the gas and broke my knee cap. That's 2 years of ouch. I guess I didn't walk quickly enough.
So, it isn't age. It's attention. Grab the keys from the Starbucks swilling phone chatting/texting people. A year or three without a license and unable to take Larla/Larlo to soccer and ballet will teach some lessons.
