I would get it taken in at the waist and sleeve. That will help it look more fitted and less boxy.

Yes! Or Bedazzle it! Or maybe you can get your scissors out and do a cold-shoulder look or some cut-outs on the side.

In all seriousness, I would just make sure my pants/shoes were really cute and tuck the shirt in.

Usually, the sleeve length is way off and the overall shirt length is TOO long to tuck in. Maybe a couple of datrts in the back to give you some shape.

This. (Also, I'm sorry - this seems unnecessary and there's nothing worse than having to project confidence while wearing clothing that makes you feel unattractive.).

I would pair it with a nice pair of cropped khakis and a smart flat/loafer, and make the most of what you do have control over - hair, makeup, and accessories.

Hello! Sorry for thread revival, would you believe this is still happening? My company is forcing female staff to wear men's polo shirts and as a petite (short) woman even the smallest size looked utterly ridiculous! I ended up having to take my case to HR and finally have received women's fit polos. It's good to know I'm not the only one, but disappointed that nothing much has changed over the years! Will team my ugly shirt with a cute cardigan as suggested. I wish anyone who reads this all the very best!

Very peculiar, I don't know who needed to hear this cardigan advice, but PP thinks there must be someone out there that does...

^^ It is about looking professional. What if they ordered all women's polos, and the guys had to wear them? They'd be too tight, too short, look awful, and Management would fix it.

They need to order some women's polos!

I can’t believe people are making such a big deal of this. This is sort of standard for tech conferences. It’s not a fashion show—the goal is for all the company reps to look the same and be easily identifiable as the company. If it’s really bad, I think you can have it taken in around the waist a bit but if you do a lot you’re going to look silly and like the person that has to sexy up a uniform because you are that vain.
Are you allowed to wear jeans? The right cut of flattering jeans would really help this. And then just do your hair and makeup as your ordinarily would and you’ll be fine.
Did you guys not ever have to wear a company t-shirt for a softball game or group outing? No one looks good, but the point is not to look good. Are you trying to hook up at this conference?

Find a nice cardigan that is fitted and shapely, i.e., no long boyfriend cardigan, something like a twin set cardigan top.

Wear that over the polo shirt, which you do your own "cheap woman's" alteration on by pulling the excess side fabric to the back and pinning it with a large safety pin to make a waist. (I didn't describe that well but I hope you get what i mean)
Tuck your polo shirt into a nice pair of neutral pants that are flare or neutral leg and a nice pair of low heels.
Wear your hair up/back in a soft chignon or low bun (or other classy simple style to get it off the collar) and some pearls, diamonds or other studs.
Trust me, this is the formula to get you through this. My condolences

If you are allowed to alter it I would take it in so it isn't boxy but instead shorter and more fitted. I would likely make shorter sleeves. I'd remove the collar and make it a henley style or v neck if I could.

My idea of fashion hell is me in a polo shirt, vest of any kind and capri pants and I'd want to kick my boss in the nuts if I had to wear any of those garments.
