Almost forgot, some of the kids we knew had taken several other "admissions" tests. Generally, the more tests they had taken the easier the test felt because they had worked out how to spread their effort across a test. That seemed to have little to do with how they did on the test.

It can be very difficult to figure out what a 5th or even 8th grader means when they talk about the test.

We knew kids who claimed the test was easy but got low scores and kids who could list chapter and verse for over 30 minutes about what they did wrong but who scored really high.

The SCAT test must not really be the intermediate SCAT but an easier version. There was little on there not taught in compacted math.

Also, if you kid says the test was easy that does not necessarily mean that they did not score well.
