3 month old. No vacations except to visit family.

Hoping to take a real trip next May. Would take one sooner if not for budget concerns and DH's job.

This sounds lovely. Did you rent places through something like vrbo or stay at inns?

We have a 1 year old and didn't go anywhere this summer. We're doing off season vacations until school starts - less crowded and much cheaper.

With what's going on in Europe, refugees swarming in, etc, it's not someplace I long for anymore. Friend of mine, her son went to London and was constantly fending off pickpockets. Who the FUCK wants that?

Yeah, much rather have the gun violence and crime of DC

Europe is huge. I'm sure there are no "refugees" or immigrants swarming into this country.

Kids are 6 and 4, went to Paris for a week and Germany for 9 days, then to Puerto Rico for 5 days.

I don't know that particular park, but I would enjoy that myself even though at this time money isn't tight for us. I wish I could get DH to agree...he's a real naturophobe---but I'd love a week at a park!

Spent a long weekend at Douthat and would love to do a longer trip there someday. There is camping, but the cabins are climate controlled with a fireplace. There's a lake, terrific scenery, hiking, fishing, playgrounds, and the Jefferson warm spring pools are a short drive away. We did not get to all the hikes and explorations I had planned. Saw a woman trout fishing with her husband in the Jackson River in Hidden Valley, I was so jealous.

Europe's a big place. It's not all bad!! We went to the UK for 3 weeks (stayed with family, rented a house on the coast, then London - no pickpockets!) and road trip to Cape Cod, which I loved and would go back to. But not every year, ever! We stayed in Mystic and Newport on the way, Hartford, CT and Woodstock, NY on the way back. Kids 5 and 8 months.

Plan to retire on the Cape at least part time. I feel best when rooted.

7 and 2. Week at a beach house near San Diego. Went to legoland, the zoo, lots of beach time and perfect weather. It was great!

6. NYC and Rehoboth. Loved both. In the past we've done London, France, and Germany, if you're looking for more exotic ideas.
