I think we all fantasize about giving up responsibilities and control to some hero as we struggle with adulting. But fantasizing about it is very different than living it. The kind of person that would take control of your life is exactly not the kid of person who would make you happy. Just ask the wife of the man ‘disrespected’ by the two plates she and her son left out. In the end we all have to carry our own baggage.

NO here. Stop calling PP a troll. Yes, in this area $450k is not rich. Our household income is $600k, yet between a high mortgage, private school, taxes, etc we barely make it.
This area being what? DC suburbs or up in NYC. $50k/month is pretty substantial. If you are barely making it at that income, almost by definition you a have spending problem. House(s) is too big or too many foreign trips. For sure taxes are a burden. But that is a good problem to have, enjoy!

It’s much better to have inherited money than to marry it.

My middle class chiropractor friend who was engaged to a wealthy surgeon was abused mocked and humiliated by him on the regular. He thought she was beneath him. She's 100 times happier with her new husband, a guy who makes about what she does but treats her with respect.

I SAH and our HHI is around 600k right now and I wouldn’t say we “barely make it” but we do feel middle class, just without having to worry about money. Kids go to public school, we drive old cars, etc.

I live in nyc and make about $600k and no way could one of us stay home.
Depends where you live. Google any Manhattan apartment and the cost of private school (nyc publics suck) and you will see. Same for sf/ la - and you all can tell me if dc
