She was also charged in 2009 with possessing drug paraphernalia, for which she received a deferred adjudication.
On her Facebook page, Bland posted several photos and videos about her experiences and the struggle African-Americans face dealing with racism. In one posted in March 2015, she discussed struggling with depression and post traumatic stress.
Seems she was a troubled woman with a history of substance abuse. But yeah, keep speculating about TX and officers....
She smoked pot and she was mad about racism? That's your evidence? I literally cannot believe you'd bring the stuff about posting about racism to this thread, and then try to link it to her being "troubled." Yes, being a PoC in the United States is stressful. Racism is stressful. Knowing that you could get pulled over and murdered in jail is stressful. That doesn't make her troubled. It makes her someone who was paying attention.
LOL - are you serious? SHE is the one who discussed HER OWN depressing and said she had PTSD. She had multiple drug arrests. I'd say that's a troubled individual.
She was arrested twice on drug-related charges. The first time she was charged with having drug "paraphernalia", which for all we know could've been a freaking bong, not actual drugs. The second time, she was in possession of a small amount of pot. These incidents occurred 5-6 years ago, when she was in her early 20s. So basically all we know from her criminal history is that she is someone who smoked pot (& drank) years ago when she was 22-23 years old, a description that fits about half of the (very functional) adults I know.
And more than half the adults who read DCUM. They simply got away with the crime by not doing their time.
Her posts about depression were recent.
I take drug arrests, even minor ones, seriously. My brother had 'minor' drug arrests back in his early 20s and though he's in his 40s now and held a good position for 20 years with a prestigious company, when his division went under and he was laid off, it's now caused him issues with new hires. And yes, we are talking only pot. Fair or not, that's the reality. And it's why I discourage my kids from drug use.
Yup, count me in that half. Whatever her arrest history, it is really hard for me to believe that someone active in #blacklivesmatter and other anti-police brutality politics would kill herself because she was arrested on questionable charges. She had a political framework to understand what had happened to her-she was the victim of a structurally racist system, not that she was a bad person. She had a network of people who would believe that what happened was not her fault. And she would be highly motivated to get out and tell her story to her friends and to the world.

Are you suicidal now? Only a person who thinks that their life is worthless would post what you just wrote. Seek help.
Yes I am suicidal and I always have been. I guess I just assumed others felt how I do about getting arrested or getting a ticket. I think of those things as deal breakers

Don't know enough about this case to form a strong opinion yet on whether she killed herself but the circumstances seem very fishy and the case needs to be investigated by an outside authority.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:From the Houston Chronicle article:

The video evidence offered by the police who are under suspicion in the first place? Is that what you talking about?
