Haha op here. I STILL hate the reserved seats. Just watched Finding Dory the other day. Had to sit through the whole movie while being kicked in the back by the person behind me. The row in front of me was empty. I was tempted to change seats but wasn't sure if some uptight person would roll in late and cry because someone stole their reserved seat.

OP, you sound pretty uptight too. Pot calling...

I live in MoCo, but haven't been to the movies recently. Is this mostly a Virginia thing or is it the same in Maryland too?

Anonymous wrote:They are few and far between. I can't think of a theater that doesn't have it in Fairfax County. Regal Countryside in Sterling isn't reserved seating (yet).

BTW, I love it. No more having to get to the theater 30 min early!

Kingstowne is still general admission.

Once you go reserved, you never go back! Guaranteed. Frankly I think those who actually choose to NOT reserve seats are the "Morgans" on the bunch!

Best thing ever!

Love reserved seats - but if it's not your thing there are lots of places that do it the old way too.

I don't mind reserved seats for my family, but if I want to go to the movies with a group of girlfriends, it's annoying because it's another layer to coordinate.

Welcome to 2016, times have changed.

AMC Georgetown - going to reclining seats, which means you pick your seat at the window or in advance.
AMC Courthouse - same thing
AMC Shirlington - same thing

Regal Ballston - reclining seats
Regal Fairfax Towne Center - reclining seats
Regal Rockville - reclining seats

The list goes on and on. Some people like the back row, some like the middle, this system works for all, especially when movie showtimes for the weekend are up on Wednesday's usually. It's called planning, you should try it.

Thanks for bumping this thread. Inspired me to reserve seats for Finding Dory this afternoon. Now we can roll in at the last minute.
Sincerely,
Morgan
