Everybody should go to Disneyland or Disney World once.

Our 4-year-old DS is named Michael but we call him Mickey. Since he was a baby, we would sing him the "M-I-C-K-E-Y" song from the Mouseketeers, subbing in our last name for M-O-U-S-E.

He had an adorable moment at Disney World this year (his first time) when he told Mickey Mouse they had the same name, and the mouse "quit," giving my son the job for a minute.

Not until around age 5

We have been there three or four times. Kid loves it. The parks do a really good job of managing the crowds and I have never felt overcrowded even during busy times like spring break.

There are a lot of different price points there and I think they do a pretty good job of trying to create an experience for everyone and not only for the highest bidder.

My kids haven't been to Disney but they will go in a few years--I have a work conference coming up there (I am in associations). their dad can take them to the parks while I work, and I will stay a day or two extra to go with them too. It will be cheaper because of the work discount. But I can't imagine picking Disney over, say, the beach. And some of the stuff is ridiculous. Glad I don't have girls...I did the contracts and "breakfast with the princesses" is insanely priced.

Yes, but the youngest is nine. They have never watched the Disney channel or whatever other channel mickey mouse cartoons would be on, but by first grade they knew about disney through other kids.

Slowly but surely Star Wars characters will be more synonymous with Disney as time passes (and marvel characters for that matter as well).

Disney spends way more money and energy promoting them than their classic characters like mickey

My kids know who Mickey is. I hate that blasted Hot Dog song but my 2 year old loves it, it is often on during his "TV time." He prefers Paw Patrol, but hey.

My kids don't watch much TV and I used to have a strict policy where their TV needed to be wholesome and educational. I figured I ought to take a break from BBC Planet Earth because they became a little too talkative about some of the animal, ahem, snuff scenes at school. Nature TV is great but perhaps I will resume it during their TV time when they are a little older. At this time it is on the back burner until they stop offhandedly describing to the other four year olds precisely how lions hunt elephants down.

Also, my two year old knows who Elmo is from his daycare apparently because I hate Sesame Street with a red hot passion. Always have, even as a kid. It has never been on in our house and we have no Elmo stuff. But he is speech delayed and one of the few words he can reliably say is "Elmo" when he sees Elmo somewhere. Smh. They pick these things up.
