I like dandelions and would be pissed if someone was picking through my yard.

Dandelions spreed their seed to other people's yard, take care of it or you may get stuck with your neighbor's bills if your weed infestation is very large.

If you're quoting the Robert Frost poem, you've missed its point.

How about the adage predating the Robert Frost poem? Seems this saying nails OP's situation.

I also don't understand the dandelion hatred. Bees like them, kids like them, they're pretty.

I can't believe people care if dandelions are on your yard. What is wrong with them? I'd be much more upset if you used poison on your yard than if you had some flowers. Ignore the crazy lady.

I find large green uniform lawns kind of bizarre.

I'd be annoyed, but I would try to figure out her motivation. She's either an obsessive bitch who's trying to teach you a lesson (tell her to mind her own business), or she's a little bit nuts (try your best to ignore), or she actually enjoys lawn care (take advantage of it). I might try to turn it into a win-win situation by leaving a weeding instrument with a note saying you really appreciate her weeding your lawn but could she please use this tool to pull out the whole weed.

The neighbor behind me is obsessive about his yard. He aggravates me with the constant noise of mowers, weed whackers, chain saws, wood choppers, and so forth. I can tell he does this because he loves it. I'm sure we're a terrible disappointment to him as neighbors. I've been tempted to say if he ever wants to come over and clean up our yard, feel free. I actually think he'd enjoy it.

I'd rather have a neighbor with dandelions than herbicide.

I'd stop doing all the nice things you do for your neighbor, OP. Maybe she'll make the connection ease up on her obsession with the dandelions. If not, you'll feel less resentful.

I'd let her know (in a nice tone) that you aren't really concerned about the dandelions and you aren't actively trying to kill them. If you don't mind her picking your dandelions, let her know that she can.

If you don't like her coming in your yard, just lob the tops off the dandelions down prior to them sprouting seeds. Keep in mind she's from a different generation when people didn't want dandelions in the yards. My guess is she'll probably get over it eventually, but no need to be rude (as some suggest).

I'd let it go, but if she continues, I'd tell her to pound sand

That would annoy me, but please, please do not use weed killer. I would just drop off a note saying that you were away but are back now so please do not try to help, you have it under control.
