Nope. All you have to do is have some sort of relationship like a child together or living together. You are "under oath" when you request a restraining order, but they can't bust you for lying and won't try to when you file, so if you say you are in fear for your life, just about every judge will approve your request for a temporary restraining order.

There are other types of restraining orders besides the domestic ones. It depends on what kind she filed.

It was sort of plausible until she disclosed (on page 5 no less) that the AP was her friend's husband.

Wouldn't that be pretty germaine to, oh well, just about everything else?

Sounds like the wife needs a restraining order against you.

+1 OP, you've gotta realize how implausible this sounds. You were friends with this woman years ago so she knows what car you drive yet you had no idea where she and your affair partner live...and of all the streets in the world this prospective employer just happens to be on the same street as your AP...AND this woman just happened to see you driving by on the day in question because she knows what car you drive...uh, no way.

1) Don't think anyone can answer that question for you. Only one who knows that is your ex affair partner's wife - you could always ask her in court tomorrow.
2) Depends upon her rationale for filing it so late. If she says she was wrapped up in bickering with her cheating husband and trying to salvage their crumbling marriage the judge may very well understand her putting the restraining order on the back-burner for a while to get herself and her household in order. If she says she never even considered getting a restraining order until she saw "Fatal Attraction" on Bravo one night and got frightened by the idea of you coming by and boiling a rabbit on their stove the judge may frown on her impulsiveness and paranoia.

It would also explain why the wife of the man she slept with is seeking a restraining order. You would be surprised how easy it is to file a TRO. The judge signs usually every single one filed in order to cover their ass if something were to happen because the TRO is denied. Their career is on the line.
The hearing will give you a chance to speak your side.
