I am not sure what you mean about IEPs? We left a charter due to IEP implement ion problems. I felt like no one was in charge and we had no recourse so we just left for IB school.

Our charter is its own LEA. They give dc everything he needs in his IEP and implement it beautifully. OSE was a joke for us. Ot and st once a week for half an hour in a group for a kid with HFA was all they offered when we said no to an autism classroom which our entire team felt would be a mistake. Ose just wanted to give us what made things easy not what was what dc needed and was least restrictive.

Can I ask which charter your HFA child attends which has done a great job? I have a kid with HFA at a DCPS school (currently pk4). Trying to decide whether to abandon DCPS inbound school for a charter we were accepted into.

Because I didn't realize just how small the Hardy feeders are compared to the large Deal ones. It wasn't anti-Hardy but rather eye opening to look at those sample sizes. Those are for 3 grades right? Or are those just 5th grade?

Because before the last few years, so many IB families wouldn't send their kids to Hearst. Because "test scores."

Curious to know why people don't have issue with school rankings every year when it comes to regular index rankings? Mann is small school and Murch is not. Man gets credit for being the "best" school when it comes to index scores but people never argue that Mann's population is much larger. Now that the data is shown by race, posters are saying you can't compare Hearst to Janney because sample size. Guess it's true, guess E&H really do come before JKLM in the alphabet and now other areas!!

There are only 15 white students that took the test (doesn't count any that opted out). With a small school like Hearst with it racial makeup, 15 seems about right. A lot of older kids OOB that go to Hearst for feeder rights.

Wow. The data is indeed correct. Very interesting. Doesn't say anything negative about JKLM as much as it says good things for non JKLM WOTP schools and HRCSs. The white # tested for Janney was 158 and Lafayette was 212 (so yes a much larger pool than others). However, Key, 2Rivers, and Eaton have similar # students tested. Way to go to all the schools! Now if only we could address the educational gap with FARM and non-FARM.

Agreed, this is very revealing data. Hearst only has 15 students in this sample so it's perhaps not representative, but Oyster has 87, very close to Key's 91.

Time to debunk the construct of JKLM.

What it does show demonstrate is how ridiculous all the IB families who choose not to go to Hearst because of "low test scores" are. I'd like to hear them now explain how their decision to not attend the school has nothing to do with race but all about test scores.

Also Eaton's low IB% being that they do better than Key. Granted, many Eaton families are rich and go private but there are a lot that go JKLM (even when Eaton fed to Deal).

Eaton (85 students tested) 57% advanced in math and 31% advanced in reading
Mann (58 tested) with 52% and 32%
Key (91 tested) with 50% and 29%
Two Rivers (56 tested) with 57% and 38%

Who would have guessed that 2 Rivers would be outperforming Mann and Eaton outperforming Key (in this measurement)!??!

For smaller representative of students measured (10-15), Hearst, Ross, and Inspired Teaching are doing very well. Wish I could see LAMB's data.
