It certainly gives you leverage if someone proposes it long-term: "I was really grateful for your parents' generosity in letting us stay with them, but the experience taught me that I don't want to live with anyone but you and Larlo. Not your parents, not my parents, not an au pair, no one."

If you're really worried about money, I'd stay with the in laws for four months. It's not that long, and everyone will get to spend extra time together. However, if it was me, and I had the money, I'd go ahead and find a new home near work as soon as you can. Then you could use the 4 months before starting work to get moved in, acclimated, learn your way around, and visiting the in laws a couple times a week.
