Do SSMA if it's more convienant. Your kid may be one of the few upper grade, but the school is committed to it's Montessori approach and is offering a nice cultural aspect.

ITS, not even close. Every family I've talked to in the neighborhood things Bethune is... ok.

Burroughs may be adding more Spanish in the futue, so be sure to check on plans for that. I personally would choose Burroughs over Bethune by comparing their principals, their overall school environment, their rhetoric vs reality (e.g. Burroughs acknowledges past problems and send to have constructive ideas for improvement, whereas Bethune leadership seems to gloss over problems like they're not there.) I've also heard from parents who have visited (but not attended so take this with a grain of salt) that not all the immersion classrooms really do immersion all the time at Bethune, despite the claim, and that there's significant screen time.

I feel bad saying negative things about Bethune since I'd love for the school to succeed and know several families there, some of whom are happy and didn't re lottery, some less so who are leaving. I also have meet a few Bethune specials teachers, e.g. music, who seem like awesome people (never saw them teach).
