Older child simply has that personality - whenever we do anything nice for younger, older claims we are neglecting older, even if we did exact same nice thing for older. Older is bitter about any special gifts younger gets (no matter how many special gifts older gets at same time).
It makes DH and I crazy. We probably give older more time and attention because it is so craved and younger is more easy going. However, older also gets more negative attention (because of behavior and lack of easy going personality).
I could have written the exact same things about my DDs.

Husband and I fight/bicker a lot. We're also sweet and happy a lot, so I don't know what it will mean for them.

Two boys that DS used to be friends with broke into our house and robbed us blind while we were out of town on spring break. We had just moved to a new state and these two were among the first to befriend him. Within a few months they drifted apart and DS was hanging out with other people. Now I understand why. It was about 6 months later that they broke in. That happened year ago and he still harbors a lot of guilt and anger about it. Although we have assured him we do not blame him and there was nothing that could have predicted they would do such a thing, he's in counseling now to try to get past it.

Holy hell! This is me. Somehow I never made the friend/acquaintance connection to our moving so much. Guess I should be in therapy
