ypu don't get to know stuff just because you want to. If this isn't the kind of family where the parents will actually be helpful, then keep them out of it.

Don't tell. Ask her what she is going to do about her drinking, but don't tell on her. If you really think the whole family needs to be involved, talk to her about that.

The idea that a 42-year-old woman would seriously contemplate tattling on her 39-year-old sister makes me really glad I had a brother.
