Off the wall reaction from the husband. They must be having issues. I don't wear my wedding band and I do smile at people (men and women) if we make eye contact. I've had a few guys come over to have conversations with me while I am waiting in line or at a bookstore, etc. I just have a friendly conversation and if my husband comes, he just introduces himself with a hand shake. That is a normal reaction from a spouse. I do the same if I go to the bathroom and come back and my husband is talking to a girl. I smile, introduce myself, and shake hands. If they were interested in more, they usually move on and it isn't awkward, if not, the conversation continues.

Married people like you annoy me. Wear your ring and stop wasting single folks time! I once had a wife get upset because I flirted back with her husband while she was in the vicinity at a bar. Her husband had been flirting for an hour. You should expect single people to flirt otherwise.

I disagree. If you're out and not wearing a ring (or its concealed) and a guy approaches you, its on you to let him know you're not available. OP is so skittish he wants to avoid the coffee shop for a month. Now you want him to be even more tentative?

Well, you don't apologize to the husband. You apologize to HER. "I'm sorry. I didn't know YOU were married." There's no apologizing to the husband in this scenario.

The husband absolutely doesn't deserve an apology. Honestly he sounds like an abuser. It's not like you tried to tongue kiss her in the Starbucks. You smiled at her and had a conversation. Rather than apologize to hubby, you should have offered her a ride to the domestic violence shelter.
