My DS will be also a freshman at G next year, we will also like to set a carpool. We were told that the school will send a list of kids that live in our town..is that true?

We didn't know anyone last year to figure out a carpool (and I didn't think about calling G to ask for neighboring students) - so this year, my freshman son did not have a carpool. We are going to actively search for a carpool for next year. I wish he had carpooled - (I think my son would have enjoyed it -- altho' the metro kids do meet on the metro) -- Maybe G's administration office can give you and your soon-to-be freshman a list of older students in your neighborhood? Good luck!

Thank you for this post PP. My DS is going to be a freshman at GZ next year! I was worried...very worried -- about him finding friends, about the commute!! DS is an introvert and not a great athlete. Very smart and great sense of humor! Something about his shadow visit clinched it for him. We also live in MD, but we have already found a senior who is driving a carpool! We are doing the summer freshman transition program and DS for the first time is excited about going to school in the summer

My kid is a non Catholic freshman ( although he went to parochial school ) and he got FA. The crisis atmosphere you depict just doesn't ring true at all on campus. The boys are relaxed happy and learning a lot. This is not to say that GZ or St Johns are bad schools. His friends are very happy there too. We are lucky to have so many good choices. I don't know why PP must condemn Prep in order to make other schools seem better. Also I like the foreign borders. Many are fun good kids and they add interest to the community.

"Smear"? Please go talk to anyone on the inside at GP or any principal at a local Catholic elementary/middle school and ask them about recent admissions activity at GP. It has been a challenging few years there, and this year was no different. Gonzaga and SJC did dramatically better with the kids at HR, BS, deC, etc.

How did you get that number? Did the school release that. Or did you pull it out of your %$#@!.

Of course, 60% isn't "almost everyone" by any stretch.

And 60& full price paying sounds like the average figure for GP and a whole lot of other schools. The Financial Aid budget isn't a bottomless well of money at any school.

Go smear another school for a change.
