I never asked, but perhaps the second one is slightly simpler to do if they've already established a "profile" on you from the first one? Or it may be an effort to convince those who come up unreceptive the first time to do another round instead of guessing what protocol would work.

It's basically the same as an endometrial scratch. Like pp said you do everything for an FET but instead of the transfer they take a sample biopsy of your lining. It hurts but only takes around 15 seconds.

Awake. It's a little bit painful but very quick. You shouldn't need any time to recover. The annoying part of the ERA is you have to do the entire protocol for an FET leading up to it, you just do the biopsy instead of a transfer. So it takes several weeks.

Bumping this thread because I am so irritated.

I had my (first) ERA biopsy last week and just found out from the lab that my sample was unusable (sounds like it broke down in transit to the Florida lab, was contaminated, or who knows what), so I have to start all over. Six weeks wasted.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is it just a big fluke or proof that my uterus is terrible? (I am obviously not in a good frame of mind right now.)

THat's great to hear OP. My RE at SG suggested this for me after 2 FET failed transfers with 3 PGS normal embryos. I have endo so I've always wondered if I should go down the rabbit hole of immune issues. Of course SGF says no, but I'm at the stage of just questioning everything. I only have 2 embryos left -- 1 untested and 1 PGS normal. I know I have to at least give the ERA a try and see what happens. It's good to hear of success! Congrats!!!

OP with an update. I had a fairly uneventful pregnancy and now have a 3 month old! after years of painful attempts and chemical pregnancies (IUI, IVF) this was our saving grace. I highly suggest the ERA to anyone who's RE thinks it might make a difference.

I graduate next week! Then I have 2 weeks until I see the OB. Wishing you good luck on Monday!! Hang in there, October will here before you know it.
