When my son was in Pk at Lafayette, he would often say that a particular aide was "mean". I know children of that age can be trying but she needs to retire if she no longer has the patience to deal with them.

The aides are better from what I have observed. And it's really only two in PK, but it was bad enough that when I was there quite a lot- many many ,ANY hours a week- I brought my concerns to multiple people in authority. Honestly, even though the teachers themselves were mostly fine (not great, way too many worksheets, th stoplight system is moronic, rtc) but totally fine, it made me fundamentally mistrust them because it was clear thwt they were letting the aides behave this way in part, it seemed, because it gave them a pass on having to figure out ways to manage their classroom without using screaming, shaming, etc.

I can't speak to others' experiences, but my child was in Lafayette's pre-K program last year and we had a very positive experience. In all the time I spent at the school (I volunteered pretty regularly and also chaperoned a field trip), I never saw anything that gave me pause or that I considered inappropriate for a school setting. We loved our child's teacher and had no complaints about the aides. And we've been happy with kindergarten as well. I have not had any direct interactions with the new principal so far, but she seems smart and engaged.
