I would just be thrilled that I didn't need to pay for a back up nanny for the week.

I think most moms/MILs are somewhere between our two ends of the spectrum OP.

I'm so so jealous, but happy for you.

Thanks. My mother and I have had our ups and downs but when she visits it is such a relief to have the extra hands around the house. I love my mom!

Are you kidding me? She's watching your kids and on top of that you expect her to do light housekeeping? Wtf. She's not your maid.

OP, I'm glad you're not going to hold this against her. I agree with others that she should get to relax once you're home. Maybe she should have done dishes while you were out, but I wouldn't be too upset about it.

My FIL is similar in his go-go-go attitude. But when he babysits, we come home to a disaster zone. When he comes for an evening, we'll come home at 11pm, ds is sound asleep in his room, FIL is watching tv on the couch, meanwhile the family room floor is covered with toys, books and stuffed animals strewn about ds's room, food is still on the counter from dinner, crusty plates on the table. I think it's just so weird that he doesn't clean up, at least after ds goes to bed. I babysat so much as a teenager and would never have left the place such a mess so I just presume all babysitters would do the same, even if it's grandpa. But dh and I just laugh about it. Sometimes you just have to roll with it and appreciate what you've got.
