And how do you have faith in something that's so unpredictable? If your boss set down ground rules one day and then changed them the next week with no guarantee even THOSE would be permanent, would you have faith in him/her?
get it?
And who's setting the rules in religion? humans

You do realize most Christian churches do not operate this way?
I'm glad we are raising our kids with Christianity, certainly not this misrepresentation of it. Do what you want in your own home, but don't paint religion with such a broad brush.
That's what makes me laugh. You are raising your children in a "Christian" household. However, your Christianity is different from someone else's idea of Christianity. So what's the sense of following a religion when beliefs are all over the place?
totally ridiculous this a la carte approach to believing in some higher entity
She is raising her kids in a Christian household. And yes, Christian denominations differ in some ways but are mostly similar.
All of them believe that Jesus died on a cross to redeem our sins and all who believe in him will live forever in heaven

because you're not used to secular people speaking up. It seems like "pushing an agenda" when it's more like expressing a point of view held by a minority that has historically been pretty quiet.
I agree that there is an agenda being pushed here.
And, it is not just that secular people are speaking up.
It is almost as if they are trying to convince believers to forsake their faith.
Why?
If you don’t believe in God, so be it.
But, it’s really not necessary to insist that believing in God is wrong.
It's also not necessary to assume that we'll burn in hell. And sure you'll say - "Well, why worry if you don't even believe in a hell?" That's not the point. It's assuming that believers have an "edge" b/c of God.
It's annoying - and ironically, not very humble. Didn't God warn against being arrogant?

NP here. I don't think that the "secular people" are trying to convince you to forsake your faith. We are just trying to make you see that we're not shitty people with no moral compass just because we're not religious.
p.s. Prisons are full of religious people.

The world is and always has been full of chaos and cruelty. So, how could I possibly have faith in anything that was predictable? The one sure thing life has taught me is that predictions (except of the kind of trivial things they predict in chemistry and physics) are a chimera. It is the unpredictable that is always true.

right
And then there are those who believe in birth control who go against the church's beliefs. There are those who support gay rights and go against the church's beliefs. There are those who redefine their religious beliefs to suit themselves.
So what's the sense in believing if you're going to make up your own version?
