Are you saying you had long-stem roses growing in your yard, because that's what they're selling by the roadside? The roses come from greenhouses in South America, not your yard.

If you caught someone cutting blooms, they were likely planning to sell them to a shady florist who used them in floral foam arrangements, not long-stem bouquets sold on the side of the street.

I've seen people selling flowers, wild mushrooms, blankets, live crabs, shrimp, and vegetables by the side of the road. I've seen this in Virginia, Washington State, Kentucky, and Oregon.


Oh, and homemade hats in the mountains of Virginia! I wish I'd bought one.

They are not “selling flowers”; they are begging. They are likely on the same corners 0people would be on if they didn’t have flowers. In some areas they are not allowed to just panhandle, so technically they are not breaking that law. They are “selling flowers”. There is no price. You can give them $1,$5, $20 and take a flower or not take a flower.

If you check they always have 20 or so. They are not running out, even tho they’re out there for hours. Yet they leave with hundreds of dollars per day.

What are all of these naive questions. Voters in this area vote for lenient immigration policies, sanctuary cities and towns, and roll out the red carpet for illegal immigration. They work under the table selling flowers, fruit out of the back of the trucks, stand around the parking lots of home Depot looking for day labor, etc. Etc. Are y'all really this naive? You voted for it, now you get it. There are millions up on millions of people living in this country illegally who are working a black market economy outside of the govt's radar. They work all cash jobs to avoid paying taxes, and also because they have problems getting bank accounts and social security numbers unless they commit identity fraud. People give them the money, and then the sellers give them the product. It's what capitalisim is based on

I think for the most part they’re just….people selling flowers? Same as people selling water / tchotchkes / whatever

That said, I used to live in a not great neighborhood in Denver - and the flower guy who set up in the convenience store parking lot every night was definitely selling something else along / wrapped up with the flowers
