Friend of mine's kid did drama at Depaul. I heard nothing but good things about it.

Eight Indiana U grads won Grammys last night.

Bradley Cooper went to Georgetown and majored in English.

Not PP but the classmate of mine who went to Carnegie Mellon works regularly in the acting field. It would be a stretch to call him "famous", but he's had major Broadway and minor TV roles, plus does lots of major narrating work.

OP 9 th grade is too early but fall of 11th is not- theater is unlike any other major (except music maybe) in that it is a huge maze which I helped DD start last year figure out and have a mega spreadsheet to prove it. She will have to look at the following:
BFA or BA.. Often BFAs are more competitive, more of a conservatory type education ( although this varies from school to school). BFA often cannot double major or minor in anything else.

Musical theater or acting- every school is different and most schools specialize in one over the other

Is there audition ( most have in person auditions on certain dates) some non audition programs require auditions in the sophomore year to continue so you better like the school and your other options there. Each school has their own audition requirements - read them closely.. Some require resumes, head shots and all will specify exactly what type of monologues she will need. Many will have an acting coach for these in the summer before summer year

Most apply to 10-12 theater programs and she needs to be open to just getting into a few programs and going to wherever she gets in even that school is in Chicago and not nyc for instance.

All this being said, this summer my DD said she decided to pursue her acting as an extra cirriicular and pursue her other passion.. Writing/ screenwriting ( this is her true talent writing plays songs and short stories since I can remember so DH are quite relieved) so all the research was not a waste of time. She found a school that met ALL of her needs- applied early and got in before Christmas. We took the scenic route but she got there!!!

It's not college, just theatre, but CAP21 in NYC.
