Concord Hill starts at age 3 and goes through third grade. It is a small, warm, nurturing place
With excellent outplacement to all the local independent schools.

NCRC is very down to earth, caring, friendly, welcoming and diverse. I love the other families and feel we have made life long friends. I assume this is true of many preschools. The Head of School embodies those qualities. She is warm and accessible.

I would not base a preschool decision on speculation you read on DCUM from people who visited a school once three years ago.

Agree with the "no way." CCBC seems to be struggling to find its way since changing directors last year. We have found it to be is the least diverse, least parent-friendly, least progressive place, and we cannot wait for this school year to end (which is so sad to wish away even a moment of what should be a joyous time for our little one.)

It would still be interesting to know if NCRC has tracked its "graduates" over an extended period. My sense is that NCRC has an enviable record of getting its young charges into "Top 3" area private schools. The school is simply amazing. When you consider that most NCRC parents are probably bright and successful, the little ones likely graduate out of their private schools and into HYP at a much higher than average rate.


Well of course they have a great record of getting into the Top 3. The rich/connected folks that get their kids into NCRC obviously are still rich and connected why applying for the next schools.

+1 Between this and the comment about NCRC provided opportunities for networking through your children's friends -- it's making me re-think whether we'd want this type of atmosphere if we're accepted in March! Yuck is right.


The DCUM view of NCRC and the reality of NCRC are starkly different. Do not let the comments here influence your decision. Seriously. There are many great preschools. Oh and there are plenty of daycare kids in the popular privates too. I never know where all these posters get their information here. Very bizarre!

Yes, the experience your child will have at NCRC is great I am sure. The teachers seem lovely as does the staff (I toured years ago), however you do get a vibe from more that a few parents at that school. The vibe is "setting my child on the right path to HYP at the age of 3". yucky...
I think the school seemed great but I wanted a more down-to-earth experience for our family. After all, you do see the other families at events, playdates, etc. Shouldn't one pick a place that you feel reflects your values as a family even if the academic program is great?
Our values are not material and status driven.( Not that all families at NCRC are either)

I would agree with this. It is a wonderful place and the newer director has made it even more wonderful with the addition of the science room and the spanish, etc. It is such a happy school.
