You claim your pudding is too complicated to make upon arriving, but what makes you think it's going to taste good (and look appetizing) after a 3 hr plane ride (assuming you're freezing it, jam it into tupperware, semi cool in ice pak, etc.). Hope it doesn't leak.

If it's more than 6oz you can't carry it on board.

And holiday crowds don't put TSA officials in a good mood so prepare to disgard if you're trying to take it with you.

I think that the OP likes complaining about MIL yet has every intention of arriving with Montezuma's revenge since she doesn't want to upset her DH either.

Realistically, traveling with pudding for hours through various temps will make it gross, think about it. It's a dumb request to begin with. You should have immediately laughed it off and then if mil was instant just explain why it's gross and that no one wants to be served a gelatinous goo that has been through 5 hours of travel. Tell her now you aren't bringing it so she can order dessert.

Just say you're sorry you can't. If your MIL won't make it herself and really wants it, give the recipe to DH so he can make the pudding when you arrive. If he's not willing to do the work then no pudding.

I am not getting the part where your husband thinks it is ok for her to ask you to make sonething but not ok for you to send her the recie. You are not asking her to make it. You don't care if she makes it or not.

Make it for her the next day. Say it got confiscated.

Can you offer to make it for the day after tgiving, explaining that you will be tired and a bit harried when you get in?

Maybe you could make a less involved "quick" version of it this year (hello jello and Cool Whip)? She may not realize how time consuming your recipe really is?
