Now that we play Iowa , penn state , Michigan , Michigan state , Nebraska , Ohio state , Indiana etc...
It's so much better than UVA ,wake forest , BC , nc state , Syracuse ... The crowds are huge.
Route 1 is undergoing 10 large scale developments . Btw terp grads love Umd and can go to our school our entire lives for games. It's awesome .
What are the 10 large-scale developments? Depending on what they are, this potentially good news for the area's "curb appeal."

It does seem like more kids are starting to actually go to UMD from our school, with price being a major factor. For many it's not their first choice but I know a number of kids were accepted elsewhere but their families couldn't justify to cost relative to UMD.
+1 totally agree
Everyone from our private applies to UMD. Many parents choose it because of the cost. DD needs to get merit aid at a private school or she's going to UMD.
UMDCP is much harder to get into than in previous years because of the cost relative to other schools. Plus, UMDCP is accepting fewer in-state students because they need OOS tuition.
I pray DD gets in. It's not far from where we live, but it's a world apart. We're not going to swoop down on DD every weekend. It will be like going to school in CA, only without the palm trees!

I also wish MD had more than one "good" state school. Va has William and Mary AND UVA. It would be nice if MD had a second well regarded school in another part of the state.
St Marys College seems to going through a rough patch right now but I think it has a lot of potential if you want a SLAC experience (in a nice but non-urban setting).
Please elaborate. DD is interested in St. Mary's. We looked at the school and liked what we saw, particularly the price tag. It's an honors college. What's going on there?
You can probably google it. The school was significantly under enrolled the last couple of years. I think the new pres or ad was ousted as a result (or certainly talk of it).

It's very familiar, not that attractive, full of kids you already know, and so close to home that you don't have an excuse if the parents want you to come home to see Aunt Maizie visiting from Des Moines.
