Let's just breakdown a very popular verse that summarizes Christianity and see how Mormonism compares.
John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, He gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life.
It says God, as in singular. Mormons believe in multiple gods.
It says only son. Mormons believe Jesus was not God's only son.
Heaven is based only on faith in Jesus (as he is known in the Bible). Mormons believe in good works.
See above posts to confirm the theology.
To the Mormon poster, please do not claim your religion to be Christian.

yours Truly, 13:35
I'm not 13:35 at all. I'm 10:48 and 11:51. But you are a bit scary. You can't be a very faithful member if you can't admit these truths about your religion. Your dedication to denial is actually quite frightening.
This is the real 13:35 and that was my last post. Ignore the imposters!
I am a Christian that has recently spent quite a bit of time researching Mormonism. We moved and have several Mormon neighbors. I wanted to learn more about it and thus you have my 13:35 post.
And you are quite correct 13:35 with everything you said. I've studied the religion extensively. Happy to field questions if 13:35 wants to bow out.

I can make a website saying I accept that I am the queen of England. That doesn't make it true.
So what you are saying is that they don't fit YOUR definition of Christianity. What other self-proclaimed Christian denominations don't pass in your opinion? Surely there are others.
Actually I'm saying they don't fit the biblical definition of Christianity. But thanks for playing

13:35 here again. Actually, it is the official statement of many Christian denominations that state Mormonism is not Christian. I don't have time to provide links, but if this PP is truly interested in the study of religion and not just picking a fight, then I suggest you call up a few mainstream churches. Southern Baptist, United Methodist, Luthern (ELCA and MS), Presbyterian, Catholic.
Please report your findings.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:The differences between Christian denominations are minor compared to the difference between Christiantiy and Mormonism.
Just a few examples:
-Mormons believe salvation is earned by good works. Christians believe salvation is given by belief in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
-Mormons believe Jesus is a spirit brother to Satan. Christians believe Jesus is God's only son. Same name, totally different meaning.
-Ever notice that Mormons don't wear or include a cross on any buildings? The meaning of the cross is fundamental to all Christian denominations.
-Mormons believe that god (which they refer to as Heavenly Father) is the god of our planet and that one day a man can become a god his own planet. He can bring his wife with him (she cannot attain this level of heaven herself, thus part of the OP's question about women wanting this "priesthood"), and there they will produce spirit babies that will some day take human form on this new planet.
To the Mormon on here, please feel free call me out on anything.
Don't be fooled by semantics and appearances. Mormonism is its own religion apart from Judaism, Christianity, Islam, etc.
NP here[b]. I didn't know that God was the Heavenly Father of earth and there are other Heavenly Fathers out there. Is there no uber God in Mormonism or is it monotheistic only with respect to earth but not to the universe.
