Amen! It matters WHAT you believe about Christ, not just using His name. Matthew 24:23-24, direct from Christ's mouth Himself: "Then if anyone says to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ,' or 'There He is,' do not believe him. For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead ... ."

I understand you disagree with Mormon church, I agree with you that there is a lot to disagree with
But Mormons are Christians.

In terms of priesthood for women, need to remember that Mormon church is quite young (founded in early 1800's) so hasn't hadtimeto develop way to deal with dissenters. Like Luther dissenting, reform Jews vs conservative etc

I am a Christian that has recently spent quite a bit of time researching Mormonism. We moved and have several Mormon neighbors. I wanted to learn more about it and thus you have my 13:35 post.

And you are quite correct 13:35 with everything you said. I've studied the religion extensively. Happy to field questions if 13:35 wants to bow out.

13:35 here again. Actually, it is the official statement of many Christian denominations that state Mormonism is not Christian. I don't have time to provide links, but if this PP is truly interested in the study of religion and not just picking a fight, then I suggest you call up a few mainstream churches. Southern Baptist, United Methodist, Luthern (ELCA and MS), Presbyterian, Catholic.

Please report your findings.

I don't doubt that other churches don't accept mormons are Christian -- some feel that way about Catholicism as well. But that's their opinion, there is nothing "official" about it.

Again, I just feel horrible for Kate Kelly. I hope she comes to realize that there are other churches where she will be welcomed and accepted.

Don't be fooled by semantics and appearances. Mormonism is its own religion apart from Judaism, Christianity, Islam, etc.

NP here[b]. I didn't know that God was the Heavenly Father of earth and there are other Heavenly Fathers out there. Is there no uber God in Mormonism or is it monotheistic only with respect to earth but not to the universe.

Yes, Adam is our God and Eve is our Goddess. Together they produce spirit babies who need bodies. Hence, Mormons need to multiply to provide bodies for the spirit babies. Then, when you die, depending on your good works on earth, your faith in the church's teachings, and all the money you have paid and work you have done in the church, you go to one of three levels of heaven where your husband (provided he died first) will be waiting for you to pull you into heaven. But he can only do so if he knows your secret name (given when the coupld is married). Then you and your husband now continue to perfect yourself until you, too, like Adam and Eve, can go off and start another planet and fill it with babies. No I am not making this up. Read "Under the Banner of Heaven" and "The 18th Wife". This is why religious researchers call Mormonism a "cult" because it does not believe in one god, but in man in man's ability to become a God in his own right providing he tithe, work in the church, go on a mision and do anything the church "calls" him to do. And Yes, Adam and Satan are brothers - there were several others - Satan got kicked out. BTW since you need a man to whom you have been sealed to to get into the top "Celestial" heaven, a woman cannot hold either the aaronic or melchezidek priesthood. Ain't going to happen
