Disclaimer: In no way am I suggesting something strange is occurring AT ALL...Not AT ALL I am only curious as why a parent is the bathroom watching? I am the mother of 4 children (almost all grown now) I know at 12 I wasn't in the bathroom with them.

Honestly couldn't go through the whole thread. OP, you really have your priorities all messed up.

If this is the biggest thing to complain about in your child, count your blessings instead.

If you continue to persist in your behavior you will find many things going awry with your child down the road.

Maybe teaching her to do all the washing first will solve a part of the problem. Teach her to FIRST wash her hair and her body - then she has time to just relax and space out until you tell her it's enough. At least that way there is no rush and stress and the moment you tell her to stop she can, as she will be fully cleaned

My DD (12) would shower for an hour if she could. I watch the time (not her). After about 20 min, we tell her to wrap it up. At thirty minutes, I go down, and turn of the Hot water valve....that ends it quickly

My DD16 takes 45-minute showers (though only every other day) and I am glad she finds it stress-relieving. She has very long, thick hair that takes more than 10 minutes just to wash, condition, comb, and rinse. Who could take a 7-minute shower?? Even my best efforts at a quick shower run about 12 minutes.

Hot showers are therapeutic for muscles. It's my only alternative to a jacuzi and cheaper than a massage. It feels good and relaxes me, especially after a hard workout. I can't imagine life without my long hot showers.
