Money into any economy is a net positive. Detroit would kill to have this "problem"
I would rather have Chinese than those left living in Detroit. At least they work hard and tend to stay off of welfare. They also don't seem to be into having children they can't provide for or murdering each other.

Saw a ton of shuttered beach front condos in Florida and no hurricanes to speak of...I wondered if their owners were offshore investors...

A large number of Chinese buyers have amassed their wealth by greasing officials in the communist party, especially since only 50,000 per year per household can leave country. They steal our technology, they make large donations to the most elite universities in the US , taking spots from middle class kids who would otherwise have these seats. Now they want our most desirable real estate, east coast and west coast cities.
No hardworking , well educated American can face off against the Communist Party and the corresponding corrupt business practices that leave the vast majority of Chinese nationals still living in poverty with little upward mobility.
It only takes a fraction of the wealthy Chinese to dislocate Americans in their own housing market in cities like San Fran , LA, NYC, where housing demand from local Americans is out of sync with supply without a large foreign bid. Add the Chinese bid to park cash , since they don't trust it at home, to these cities and basically say goodbye to Americans owning homes in these towns.
The Chinese could also park their cash in Detriot, where Americans and the US would get some mutual benefit out of this trade, but obviously Detroit is not good enough for their tastes.
Shame on our politicians and the NAR, where real estate brokers should need to confirm the legitimacy of cash transactions from foreigner buyers.

The tiger moms LOVE you! If you were like the tiger moms - there would be more competition for their kids.
+1
I can't believe how many negative stereotypes are being passed around on this forum. I had no idea this area had so many narrow-minded bigots.

An American certainly could not go to China and buy property as a matter of right. A lot of the most valuable assests in this country are owned by foreign nationals. You have to wonder about the long term implications.

Yeah, super racist stuff like, maybe allowing super rich foreign investors that helps push more regular people out of the market isn't the best idea ever.
