PP, while in most situations I would agree, you didn't give the PP of the other post any room to have a non-toxic sunscreen.

PP - our cleaning lady is Latina

Is this similar to baby cologne? Our cleaning lady gave us cologne for our baby, which we did not use (but played along like we might). It never occurred to us to put cologne or perfume on a baby. Then my friend remarked how nice it was that our baby smelled like baby instead of cologne. Her sister-in-law from Cuba douses her nephew in baby cologne. Is this a Latin thing?

Beyond weird!! I think bathing your child regularly should help with the "smell"....I don't even want to know what other kinds of things this mother thinks is okay, haha

Products with perfumes can aggravate allergies and asthma. It is polite to avoid using products with strong scents so that other people's health is not affected. If she likes a scent, then it should be used sparingly, preferably only for special occasions or when it is impossible to bathe. Remember that scents are supposed to make people want to get close to you to smell that light waft of scent more, rather than overpowering them and chasing them away!

Weird! Also not good to be inhaling that crap. Is the kid a picky eater because I don't know how you could taste anything wearing that crap.

Is her house filled with plug ins and scented candles? Does she have diminished sense of smell from smoking?

My MIL has put perfume on my kids since they were babies. Like special baby perfume she buys when she goes back home. It is very common in her country. I thought it was weird and I dont put it on them but I don't argue about it.

PP here - forgot to add...if she does want to do something about smell she can use natural essential oils and put a drop or two on his clothes...not his skin.

Not only is this weird, I would also be seriously concerned with what those chemicals do to the little body. A toddler doesn't have body odor...that starts during puberty. So it is absolutely unnecessary. It also send a very messed up message "I don't like the way you smell, so I spray this on you, as if you were an old tennis shoe." I find it pretty disturbing

It's weird. Two-year-olds smell good all by themselves (ahh, toddler smell!). Unless they're poopy, of course.
