We were together for 3 years before we got married at 25. Did not live together before marriage. Been married 7 years and have 3 kids. Like a couple of the other posters, we'd been together for over 7 years before we had our first, and while I wouldn't say that the kids never strain our relationship, we have a very solid foundation.

Dated about 2.5 years before getting engaged. We were engaged about 1.5 years before getting married (at almost 29) , almost a year of that time was living together. We've been married 12 years.

Together 2.5 years before I moved in, which was about 4 months before our wedding. I was 31, he 33 when we got married.

2.5 weeks until I moved in (temporarily for the summer. Moved back in together 9 months later.)

Happily married over 5 years and 2 kids now. Had a rough time the first few years living together as we adjusted to each others quirks, stressful jobs, etc. Smooth sailing after that.

Very interesting. ...most happy posters here got married "young" by DC standards. Many of us in our 20s.

I met my DH when I was 20, he 21...personally it seems to me easier to be able to get along with someone when you settle down before you are set in your ways. I cannot imagine living by myself until o was 36 and then have to adapt to someone other than me scratching my ass and farting in bed.

Dated 2.5 years. Engaged 13 months. Coming up on 12th anniversary next month.
We never lived together officially, but we spent weekends together at one of our places after about 12 months.

Like other posters, I think it is important to point out that we had kids when we were 28/29. We has a solid 8 years to get to know each other and work well as a team before children. Children have put no stress on our marriage. As a matter of fact they have made us stronger.

Married about 11 months after we met for the first time on a blind date.

Will be married 15 years later this year

I was 28 when we got married and he was 39.
