I mean sure, if you want to follow the law to the letter, but this is honestly not a huge deal.
I agree. I wouldn't do it because I am paranoid, but I wouldn't have a problem if someone else did. I do think it depends on the age of the kids. Very young and older are ok; not so sure about the 2-5 range. If your kid would be upset by the thought of you not being there, I probably wouldn't do it. As an 8 or 9 year old I wouldn't have minded. As a 6 year old, I would have been scared by the thought that my parents weren't there.
Honestly, though, if you are really listening to the monitor it's probably fine. My DH sleeps so soundly at night he doesn't hear the baby wake, doesn't hear when I go feed her, etc. Doesn't even know I'm gone until I come back to bed and poke him to move over. And we have the monitor right next to the bed. His level of responsiveness would probably be higher if he were conscious and at the party!

I see an overwhelming response of "no". I guess i am more laid back, since I don't think it is really a big deal, but have enough worry that I thought to put it out to the DCUM world.
I just don't want to be judged by neighbors.
In Maryland this isn't legal.

Post a notice on your neighborhood listserv and get a sitter.
No you can't bring a monitor to a party, parties by definition are loud, you aren't going to hear everything. What if one of your kids gets up in the middle of the night and goes looking for you? Or ends up pounding and wailing on a locked front door? People will think you are insane for bringing a monitor to a party.
You can't afford a babysitter?

You're kidding right?
In no way in hell would I leave my kids alone but if I had to choose I would pick leaving them over putting them upstairs alone in a room or unfamiliar house with a bunch of drunks. Who know what could happen to your kids up there?! You sound irresponsible and especially idiotic.
